Our journey
SING...Club was formed in January 2024, initially running two daytime choirs in Billericay. Since then, we have expanded to host weekly choir sessions in various locations across the Essex region, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for anyone to come along to and have a sing.
What makes us different?
BREAKING NEWS: We are very excited to be starting a new NON-CHOIR community singing group, to start in October, in Billericay. This group takes us back to our original idea- which was to meet weekly in a non-pressure, no parts, no music, environment- where people can come along purely to meet others and to sing songs based on the "theme of the week", with different themes each week. This will be different from our normal Billericay choirs, who rehearse part songs and like to take part in concerts. So, if you're interested in coming along just for a weekly sing-song then this is the group for you! More information to follow... so watch this space!
All of our groups are fun, no pressure, no judgment and- importantly, done properly. We don't ask for a horrendous monthly subscription cost, we have a small "pay per session" fee (normally £5). We are run by trained music professionals and teachers. We teach you properly- to breathe, to warm up, and to enjoy singing! We don't do dancing/shouting and we don't use backing tracks. Our leaders lead from the piano. We sing a mixture of songs (music from the shows, pop songs or folk songs arrangements, and you even have a say in this) and all are arranged specifically for our SING choirs. You don't need to be able to read music- we offer you the choice of words and/or music, at no extra charge. You don't even need to be able to sing, or to know which part you sing. Most of our songs are in 1, 2 or 3 part harmony and there are always options- even if you "just" want to sing the tune. Ladies and gents of all ages are welcome. You don't need to commit to come to every session- but obviously we would love to see you at them. And if you can't come to one venue you're always welcome at the others that week! Each of our choirs have their own personality, so why not come and try them out?
Oh, and several of our members often go to the pub after our sessions and have made real friendships with people they never knew before.
Our sessions normally take place in the daytime, for just an hour. However, during term time we run an evening session in one of our Billericay venues.
